EIT is the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. More about this can be found on the official EIT homepage and on wikipedia.
In 2010, the first three Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KIC) were launched. One of these was to look at sustainable energy: the consortium chosen to run this KIC was InnoEnergy.
Within this KIC, there are six Colocation Centres (CC) shown here. Each CC combines a mixture of academic and industrial partners with a focus on a particular aspect of the aims of the KIC. The Sweden CC is called "European Smart Electric Grid and Electric Storage".
Within CC Sweden, there are four main areas for research: Controllable and Intelligent Power Components (CIPower) is the one in which I am directly involved; the others are about `Smart' Electric Grids, Energy Storage, and Communication.
An important part of the research within EIT is PhD projects.
CC Sweden coordinates the PhD students coming into projects at
KTH and Uppsala, from a single
PhD-school, whose administration I am also involved in.
